FAQs about our riding gear

What’s the difference between knee pads and knee braces?

Your knees are one of the most important body parts to protect when motocross riding. But are knee pads enough, or do you need a set of knee braces for your next ride?

Like knee pads, knee braces are designed to protect your knees – however, they’re made with more durable materials like carbon composites that add stability and improve impact protection. They also mimic natural movement, which can reduce the risk of hyperextension and help prevent past knee injuries from reoccuring. However, knee braces are bulkier than knee pads and have a higher initial cost, making them a tougher sell for casual riders with non-existing knee injuries.

Knee pads are essentially lighter, more flexible and less protective versions of knee braces. They’re lightweight, more affordable and generally more comfortable than knee braces, which makes them a good choice for casual riders or budget-conscious beginners. However, they lack the comprehensive protection of a high-quality knee brace.

Not sure which type of knee protection is right for you? We’ve got you covered. Explore our full range online or get in touch with our expert team — we’ll set you up with the right motocross gear for dirt bikes of all types.

Why do some motocross and dirt bike helmets not have visors?

Whether you’re riding offroad or hitting the streets, every helmet is designed with a specific rider in mind.

While street helmets generally feature removable visors, most motocross helmets are visor-free. That’s because motocross helmets are designed to be used with goggles to provide better protection for your eyes and reduce the risk of dirt obscuring your vision.

Unlike visors, goggles create a tight seal around your eyes that protects them from sand, dirt and debris. Goggles are secured with elastic bands, so they’re less likely to slip off during falls or crashes compared to visors, which are designed to be detachable. The wider gap in visorless helmets also gives you a wider range of visibility, which is essential for fast-paced sports like motocross.

We recommend pairing your new motocross helmet with a durable set of goggles to give your eyes the best possible protection when riding offroad.
